Amber – the special gemstone with a long history

Amber is one of the oldest and most sought-after jewelry and gemstones in the world. The reason for this is obvious: it is tree resin, which – hold on to your guns – came out of pine or other conifers millions of years ago and hardened in the air. Amber means all fossil resins that are older than a million years. A real natural stone with a fascinating history, and one of the reasons why we love it so much! It is not uncommon to find interesting inclusions in amber such as air bubbles or insects - thousands of years old evidence from prehistoric times. But whether with inclusions or without – the petrified resin is always a reminder of bygone times.

But it's not just us who are completely enchanted by the unique Gemstone jewelry: The ancient Greeks considered amber to be the tears of the gods and in the Middle Ages amber was also said to be healing and sometimes so magical effect. Amber was used as an important protective stone and also stands for joy of life and warmth. In addition, it was said to have a calming and pain-relieving effect. It was not uncommon to see teething babies and small children wearing amber necklaces as these were supposed to ease the growing pains of new teeth. It was also used to prevent inflammation of the respiratory tract or to accelerate healing of colds. Amber exudes a sensual and warm atmosphere at the same time and is therefore often used as a hand flatterer. Amber is a real classic - which was probably already found in your grandparents' jewelry box. However, amber jewelry is anything but old-fashioned - actress Marilyn Monroe already liked to wear amber, as can be seen in old color photos of the actress. Amber jewelry is timeless and elegant. In addition, with amber jewelry you can be sure that you are not wearing “jewellery off the rack”. Because no matter whether it's a bracelet, earrings, necklace or ring - no two pieces of amber jewelry are alike. As a natural product, every single piece of jewelry made from amber is truly unique.

Honey-colored jewelry

Whether it's because of their healing effect or their honey-like coloring: our gemstone jewelry made of amber is a real heartwarmer! Whether as an earring like our Almeira earrings, as a necklace like our Amber Acorn II necklace or in the form of stud earrings like our Amber stud earrings: it gives its wearer an irresistible warmth and spreads the relaxed atmosphere of a golden autumn day. Bet that you can make any room shine with pieces of jewelry from our beautiful Natural Jewelry collection? Enhance your inner glow with an amber necklace such as our Almeira necklace and give your outfit a “touch of gold”. Speaking of gold – jewelry made from amber can be combined particularly well with gold-colored elements. But natural colors such as soft brown or pastel tones or - very classic - simple black, harmonize wonderfully with your amber earrings or your amber necklace.

The right care for your natural jewelry made of amber

Because amber is not a stone but a hardened resin, amber is much softer and more delicate than other gemstones. It is therefore best to only clean your amber jewelry with warm water and with soft materials, such as a soft cloth or, for larger amounts of dirt, a baby toothbrush. If your amber necklace appears dull or dull after a certain period of time, you can give it a new shine with colorless furniture wax. If possible, avoid contact with your amber jewelry with shower gel, shampoo, perfume or other cosmetics, as the ingredients they contain could be too aggressive for amber. In addition, if possible, you should store your natural amber jewelry in separate packaging from other pieces of jewelry, as it could become scratched due to friction with other pieces of jewelry.
